Participation in both local and international research is a top priority at CBS. This is characterized by a long history of major Hungarian research projects – such as the recurrent Hungarian Competitiveness Research Program involving several institutes of the CBS since the 1990-es; as well as 14 research programs currently financed by the Hungarian National Research Fund (OTKA).

Internationally, CBS participates in FP7 programs (CLYMBOL, CRE8TV in 2015), has developed a Research Cooperation Agreement with EM Normandie Business School, and promotes the development of further international research proposals via the school’s research support mechanisms.

These mechanisms have been upgraded through establishment of the CBS Research Committee (its members representing all institutes of CBS) and the Research Directorate. The CBS Research Committee’s mission is to create and strengthen enabling conditions for research activities pursued by CBS staff at the international academic level.

Frequently organized intellectual events are reinforcing the research culture: Science Cafés are held monthly, and a Faculty Research Week is organized each semester.

CBS established its own publication award, faculty members are also awarded by external institutions.

Budapest Management Journal is the peer-reviewed scholarly publication of CBS established 15 years ago.
